Li Shiguang, male, 42 years old, an associate chief physician, a CPC member, now is the Director of the Spinal Surgery of Beijing Beiya Orthopaedics Hospital.
He graduated from North China Coal Medical College with Bachelor’s Degree in 1988. His major is medical treatment. In 1995, he formally acknowledged Prof. Wu Zhendong of China Medical University as his teacher to study with great concentration the operational treatment of lumbar disc herniation, cervical vertebra disease and scoliosis. In 1997, he formally acknowledged Prof. Xu Xinxiang and Prof. Yang Yougeng of Norman Bethune University of Medical Science as his teachers to learn spinal surgery. In 1998, he became the first person in the east of Inner Mongolia to treat horacolumbar burst fracture with “short segment fixation and transpedicular bone grafting system”; treat cervical vertebra spine and spinal cord injury through operation of anterior cervical decompression + bone grafting + internal fixation; treat lumbar spondylolisthesis with intervertebral bone grafting + Steffee steel plate, and carry out other difficult operations. As a result, numerous bed-ridden patients stood up again and started a new life. He has saved countless miserable families and received a wide range of praise from many patients and patients’ families. A patient’s family member brought the post-operation X-ray photo to a large hospital in Beijing for consultation. The expert at the hospital spoke highly of it. In 2001, he came to No. 3 Hospital of Peking University to further learn new technologies for spinal surgery and succeeded in “unilateral open door expansive laminoplasty of one side”, making a 73-year-old bed-ridden patient with “cervical spinal canal stenosis” walkable three days after operation, creating a medical miracle and becoming a much-told story. In 2003, he went to No. 2 Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences to learn intervertebral disc endoscope. In 2004, he formally acknowledged Chen Xifan, an orthopaedics and traumatology expert distinguishing himself with ancestral TCM as his teacher to learn how to treat bone disease through integration of TCM and Western Medicine.
Since 1998 when he was appointed Orthopaedic Director of the General Hospital of Pingdingshan Coal Co., Ltd., he has involved and commanded the rescue of injured persons in many major traffic accidents and mine accidents, worked out a complete set of successful experience in the rescue of critical patients with multiple injury or combined injury and for many times, he has brought dying patients back from the verge of death. On the basis of plentiful clinical work, he wrote Treat Thoracolumbar Burst Fracture with APF, Treat Lumbar Spondylolisthesis with Steffee Steel Plate and other theses and published them in famous Chinese medical magazines. Among them, Treat thoracolumbar burst fracture with APF was awarded prize for medical science advancement by the Ministry of Coal Industry.
